Long duration IFR conditions are expected to continue through the
fcst period as yet another winter storm system begins impacting
the region later this afternoon. Out ahead of this system, warm
advection over existing snow pack will lead to continued reduced
visibilities, with trends only marginally improving once
precipitation initially in the form of rain, develops over the
region. Best chance for snow at KC area terminals will arrive
around 3z and persist through much of the overnight hours, with
gradual improvements back to MVFR expected after 12z as storm
system exists to the east. Strong winds on the backside of the low
will lead to periods of blowing a drifting snow as well, which
will likely necessitate the need for continued snow removal
efforts on airport ramps and runways through a good portion of the
daylight hours on Saturday. Winds look to calm down by mid- to
late afternoon as high pressure begins building in from the west.
